Hot rods, vehicles made 1948 and earlier. 1/4 mile, handicap dial in to the nearest 10th. Must have all IHRA required safety equipment. Minimum 16 car field.
HOT ROD II
Sportsman, or full tree handicap racing. Dial to the nearest tenth. Vehicles made from 1949-1963. Must have all IHRA required Safety Equipment. Minimum 16 car field.
Sportsman, or full tree handicap racing. Dial to the nearest tenth. Vehicles made from 1964 thru 1972. Must have all IHRA required safety equipment. Minimum 16 car field.
Gasser class. Must pass tech inspection. Nose high ill handling style where the rocker panel is higher than the center line of the front spindle. Sportsman tree, racing where classes A=9.50 through G=12.50. Winner of each Index will be awarded a trophy. Winners will then switch to handicap style racing (their index), to win the purse or elect to split.
Gasser class. Must pass tech inspection. Lower more competitve style where rocker panel is lower than centerline of front spindle. Sportsman, full tree, handicap racing dial to the nearest tenth. This is a restricted class to Gas Coupes made before 1949. Minimum 16 car field, if not met, move to Hot Rod I.
NOSTALGIC SUPER CHARGED GASSERS
Supercharged Gas Class. The bad boys of Gasser Racing! This is a Heads Up division fastest car will win. Must pass IHRA safety inspection to run. All cars must be nostalgic in appearance and sit accordingly. For safety reasons this division will run 1/8 mile. Minimum 16 car field.
FRONT ENGINE DRAGSTER
Open roof style drag class. Must pass tech inspection. Sportsman Tree dial in to the nearest 10th. No electronics.
Minimum 16 car field.
No box all run handicap racing. All other electronics permitted. All fuel permitted per IHRA. All body styles. 1900-1972. Must pass Tech inspection. Sportsman tree 1/4 mile. Minimum 16 car field.
NOSTALGIA ALTERED DIVISION
No box all run handicap racing. All fuel permitted per IHRA. All body styles. 1900-1967. Must pass IHRA Tech inspection. Sportsman tree 1/4 mile.
W Motor 348-409 DIVISION
No box all run handicap racing. All fuel permitted per IHRA. All body styles. 1900-1972. Must pass IHRA Tech inspection. Sportsman tree 1/4 mile. Trans brake and two step allowed. Vehicle must have W Motor.
Rock N Race Guidlines
These guidlines are for classification for vehicles participating at the event, all IHRA safety rules are a applicable.
Street Race Friday Night
3 classes divided by year of manufacture of vehicle; Cars, Trucks, Vans, and motorcycles. 3 Trophies; one for each class will be awarded. All vehicles must be street legal and have DOT approved tires. All lug nuts must be present. All cars should be in good repair. Seat belts required (except motorcycles). All batteries must be fastened. Radiator overflow container a must, even if a beer can.
This race will be a round robin affair. The race will be started by a female contestant for the Best Flag Girl competition. This is an eighth mile competition. Winner of each round will return to the staging lanes. No buy backs.
Saturday Night Gasser Magazine Gas Classes
This race is only for Nostalgia Gas and the Nostalgia AA/GS cars. Each class will be determined by the weight of the vehicle and the displacement of its engine. Formula listed below. ¼ mile racing on a Sportsman Tree with no buy backs. Each class will be called to a specific lane and will only race same class cars HEADS UP.
A Gas 5.00-6.99 Pounds per cubic inch
B Gas 7.00-8.99 Pounds per cubic inch
C Gas 9.00-10.99 Pounds per cubic inch
D Gas 11.00-12.99 Pounds per cubic inch
E Gas 13.00-14.59 Pounds per cubic inch
F Gas 14.60 or more.
AA/GS- 5.00-7.99 Pounds per cubic inch
BB/GS- 8.00-10.99 Pounds per cubic inch
This formula is calculated by the owner of the car and we are going by the gentlemen rule. This race is for a trophy only. It is for the enjoyment of the participants and the fans! Racing the way it used to be! This race has no bearing on Sunday’s race day program!
Saturday Night Heads UP
All race divisions join in the Heads Up action. Each division will race to find the fastest car in each division! No dial in, leave the line at the same time, first to the finish line wins, just like the old days (Trophy race only, no bearing on Sunday's race program)!
Sunday Sunday Sunday Race Day!
Sunday is race day with $1000 total purse for each class. There will be 8 classes of racing with individual guidelines per each class. All class racers must conform to IHRA safety regulations and pass a technical inspection by Dragway 42. No electronics will be allowed in competition. NO use of any type of rev-limiter will be allowed in competition for launch control, too include a two-step. Rev limiters Can be used for engine protection. No Screw type blowers. Vehicles quicker than 9.99 in the ¼ mile must have an engine diaper to compete. No buy backs for any class. Bye runs will be determined by best reaction time from previous run. Each class will be called to a specific lane.
Hot Rod I
Vehicles manufactured from 1900 to 1948. This class will be handicap racing dial in to the nearest 10th on a handicap tree.
Hot Rod II
Vehicles manufactured from 1949 to 1963. This class will be handicap racing dial in to the nearest 10th on a handicap tree.
Vehicles manufactured from 1964 to 1972. This class will be handicap racing dial in to the nearest 10th on a handicap tree.
Vehicles manufactured from 1900 to 1972. This class will be handicap racing dial in to the nearest 10th on a handicap tree. Two step and nitrous permitted in this division.
Vehicles manufactured form 1927-1948. Traditional Gasser bodied cars that are low in stance. The rocker panel/lowest part of the vehicle body is below the centerline of the front spindle. Vehicles must be full fendered, have a roof, and hood top. Vehicle cannot be chopped/channeled more than 4 inches total. No motorcycles. Vehicles manufactured from 1927-1967. Traditional Gasser bodied cars that have the nose high stance. The rocker panel/lowest part of the vehicle body is above the centerline of the front spindle. Vehicles must be full fendered, have a roof, and hood top. Vehicle cannot be chopped/channeled more than 4 inches. No Motorcycles. This class will be index racing with index listed below. Winners of each index will then be matched up closest to farthest, etc. The sportsman tree will be utilized for this class. Complete guidelines can be found here.
Supercharged Nostalgia Gas
THE INTENT: THAT ALL CARS IN COMPETITION FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES AND RESEMBLE THE OUTWARD APPEARANCE OF THE AA/GAS CARS THAT RAN UP TO THE LATE 1960’S, SIMILAR TO THE NHRA RULES OF THAT ERA. Gasser Madness/ Gasser Magazine will distribute these guidelines to assist in presenting structure for an event similar to events from the late 1960’s.. These guidelines in no way instruct a person on how to build a car. If a participant’s vehicle does not conform to these guidelines, it will be classified in another division. PROGRAM: Based on open registration. Car count will dictate format based on an 8 car qualifying field. This is a heads up division with an index sub class when more than 8 cars are entered. The fastest half of the field will run 1/8 mile heads up elimination, while the slower half will run a 1/8 mile index of 5:60. A point system will be in place for each event to ensure fairness for all participants.
BODY: Open to all production style cars no later than 1942 (fiberglass bodies of factory dimensions permitted). The following are permitted body exceptions; 1948-1951 Anglia, Prefect and Thames (no Utes). 1948-1952 Austin A-40 Sedans and Pick Ups. 1951-1954 Henry-J and All State. Street roadsters NOT permitted. ALL CARS MUST LOOK PERIOD CORRECT COMPARED TO ACTUAL CARS OF THE DAY. Wings (unless originally so equipped in 1968-69) or stretched bodies NOT permitted. All cars must have period correct appearing lettering, paint or primer. Wild graphics NOT permitted. Running boards NOT permitted unless correct for period of build or include factory bumpers front and rear.
CHASSIS: Must have both a working front straight axle and rear suspension. Suspension must be period correct and have individual adjustment holes, no slider adjusters. Factory frame rails or 2” x 3” rectangular tubing. Maximum engine set back 10%. Minimum allowable weight to be no less than 2500 lbs including driver. Wheelie bars may be no longer than 45″. All vehicles must have a minimum of 7” of ground clearance body and frame.
TIRES: No wider than 13” at race pressure. Minimum rollout of 98” and maximum rollout of 105”.
WHEELS: Minimum wheel diameter 15”. Maximum wheel diameter 16”. Maximum wheel width 12”. Wheels such as Halibrand, American Racing, Cragar, Ansen, steel or any other that closely resembles wheels of the 1960’s era.
ENGINE: Cast Iron blocks ONLY. Cast iron and cast aluminum heads similar to factory dimensions and appearance ONLY. Intake manifolds must be cast aluminum or magnesium blower specific manifolds ONLY. Manifolds must have been or are commercially available to the public. 500 cubic inch maximum engine size. (unless weight to cubic inch ratio is greater than 5lbs per cid. Not including driver.) No modern production engines permitted. (GM LS, Ford modular, Mopar modern Hemi) Engine components and engine bay should resemble that of a race car from the late 1960’s.
BLOWER: Roots style 6-71 with 15″ cast rotors only, strips OK. Stock style end plates only. Hi-helix rotors NOT permitted. Compressible/conformable coatings such as DB L-908 or any other coating that conceals rotor composition not permitted. Rotors must be visible in as cast form to verify compliance. Hard Anodizing case and rotors permitted. Retrofit adaptor plates NOT permitted. OVERDRIVE limited to maximum of 20.0%.
INJECTOR: 1960’s style Hilborn, Enderle Bug Catchers, Enderle Barn Door circa 1957-1964 ONLY. Crower 8-port 1967 vintage and up with 2-7/16″ plates ONLY or Ron’s reproduction with 2-1/4″ plates, Vintage Scott Slot injector. Carbon Fiber Injectors NOT permitted. Forward or offset injectors NOT permitted. Port nozzle injectors NOT permitted.
CARBURETORS: Any 1960′s period correct carburetors allowed. Two 4 barrel maximum. Stromberg maximum of 8 are permitted.
FUEL PUMP: One Hilborn 150-1 or Enderle 80-A-1. Camshaft OR Belt driven at cam speed.
FUEL: Gasoline or Alcohol. Oxygenated fuel not permitted. Nitromethane NOT permitted.
IGNITION: Magneto or MSD box and distributor only. One Vertex or Mallory Super Mag II with external coil. Timing management systems NOT permitted. No crank trigger engine ignition, but can be used for engine protection only.
ELECTRONICS: Any electronic devices other than rpm tachometer, gauges and high end rpm limiter NOT permitted. All efforts must be made to disguise electronics. Digital/LED instrumentation is not permitted.
TRANSMISSION: Automatic transmission with converter. Must be manually shifted. Clutches NOT permitted. Trans devices NOT permitted. If so equipped- must be DISABLED to technical committee’s satisfaction. Torque converters must be steel weld together, original equipment type only. Bolt together and/or aluminum converters NOT permitted. Lock-up torque converters NOT permitted.
SAFETY: All cars must pass NHRA / IHRA safety tech. Drivers NHRA or IHRA license must be current and up to date.
PROTEST PROCEDURE: Contestant protest must be filed with race director prior to class run off. Protest must be made at least 3 hrs before call to the lanes. Protests on engine displacement or equipment must be submitted in writing and accompanied with a protest fee. Protest fee will be forfeited to the car owner if the protested car is found legal for its class competition. If found to be non-compliant, the illegal entry will be subject to such action such as the race director’s wish to impose, including suspension and or revocation of competition privileges.
Dragsters and Funny cars built to resemble an era before 1972. Sportsman tree dial in to the nearest 10th. No electronics.
Nostalgia altered – coupes and sedans up to and including 1967 body style.
Altered coupe and sedan class is for cars with modified production (replica) bodies designed solely for drag strip competition though in some cases may serve as dual purpose cars used for transportation as well. Bodies, engines, drivetrains, chassis, ect may be altered, modified or relocated as noted in the class guidelines.
Fuel – gasoline, race gas, alcohol are permissible. Nitro is not permitted.
Ballast – maximum of 50 pounds, must be fixed solid to chassis.
Belly pans – are permissible, streamlining may not be added.
Bodies – must have a coupe or sedan body originally produced by a automobile manufacturer or a replica of an original, tops may be chopped and/or body channeled but not to exceed 10 inches total body height reduction, sedan delivery (1/2 ton panel truck) sedan pick-up, Ranchero, El Camino, etc may run in this class providing car meets all class requirements, pick-up beds must be stock height and width and a minimum of 36 inches in length.
Brakes – a minimum of 2 wheel hydraulic brakes (rear wheels only) will be required on all cars in this class.
Bumpers – are not required
Driver – must be behind engine and forward of rear axle, must be completely inside body.
Drive Lines – may be modified or fabricated to suit installation, all cars with open drive lines must have a minimum of one drive safety loop to keep drive shaft from digging into track in case of front u joint failure.
Engine – must be of automotive type, year, make and model are optional, any modification may be made to the engine including clutch and flywheel, only 1 engine permitted, engine may be relocated but not to exceed 25% of the wheel base measured from center of front spindles to the nearest spark plug hole, rear engine location is not permitted.
Exhaust system – competition type exhaust permitted, exhaust must be directed out of the body to the rear away from the driver, fuel tank, tires and strip.
Frame – may be stock, altered automotive type or tubular construction.
Fenders – are optional
Rear End – any automotive type is permitted.
Street equipment – is not required
Suspension – any type suspension permitted, rigid mounted axles are permitted on the rear only
Transmission – must have a conventional automotive type transmission with a minimum of 2 forward gears, flywheel cover is mandatory
Upholstery – interiors may be gutted, must have minimum of 1 seat and all mandatory safety gear according to NHRA/IHRA guidelines for et/speed
Wheels and tires – wheel wells may be radiused to permit the use of larger tires and wheels providing new wheel wells are constructed which completely cover the inside and top 180 degrees of wheel and tire and completely isolate wheel and tire from driver’s compartment.
Wheelbase – altering of the wheelbase is permissible
Ignition – points, magneto, electronic ignitions are all permissible, distributor less ignition systems not permitted.
Induction – any combination of naturally aspirated, supercharged (roots type only) turbocharged, mechanical injected, or carbureted are permissible, electronic waste gates, electronic injection, nitrous oxide are not permitted.
Electronics – high side chip for over rev protection permissible, 2 step, delay box, rpm activated shifter, launch control, trans brake are not permitted.
W Motor (348-409)
Vehicles manufactured from 1900 to 1972 that run this particular motor only. This class will be handicap racing dial in to the nearest 10th on a handicap tree. Two step and nitrous permitted in this division.
All classes based on a minimum of 16 car field.
New this year, double entry is permitted, however, event schedule may not give adequate cool down time to double entered vehicles.
